Layton Veterinary Hospital is seeking a Kennel Technician  to join our team!


This is a part time position, with some weekends and holidays required. 
Must be available to work Sunday through Wednesday.

Ideal Candidate:
  • Candidate must be outgoing and comfortable interacting with clients
  • Some knowledge of animal handling is preferred
  • Previous medical or pharmacy knowledge preferred
  • Occasional shifts in animal care or cleaning will be required
  • Has strong communication skills
  • Possesses superior customer service skills
  • Works well on a team
  • Has excellent animal handling skills
  • A desire to expand their knowledge
  • Willing to help out wherever needed


Kennel Tech duties:

  • Needs to be good with both dogs and cats
  • Needs to work some holidays and weekends, because boarding is open 365 days a yr.
  • Needs to be reliable because caring for animals is our core focus
  • Duties include animal care, feeding, dishes, cleaning cages, poop scooping, litter pans and laundry.
  • Willing to walk dogs and scoop the yard in the rain, snow or heat.
  • Must be able to accurately dispense medications to hospitalized patients
Janitorial duties: 
  • Needs to be a detailed cleaner and willing to clean up after others
  • Willing to take deep cleaning projects monthly, like scrubbing base boards, washing walls, dusting, etc.
  • Able to work without supervision. Willing to be alone in the building during the evenings/ after dark.
  • Good mechanical skills for maintaining equipment
  • Willing to restock inventory each shift
  • Willing to follow proper sanitation protocols for the hospital.
