Thrive Pet Healthcare Specialists is looking for a Veterinary Technician Manager to join our team as part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community.

About You     
This role is responsible for leading and maintaining a technical staff that embodies the core values of Empathy, Service, Accountability, Team, Exploration, and Joy. In collaboration with the Training Coordinator, the position oversees the training, performance, scheduling, and evaluation of technical staff within specialty departments. Additionally, you’ll serve as the primary point of contact for all technical inquiries, concerns, and issues—both on and off premises—related to specialty departments. As a full-time, salaried, exempt position, you’ll report directly to the Hospital Administrator. 
      
Experience & Skills Requirements:    
  • The Technician Manager should ideally hold an RVT/LVT/CVT certification and have 2+ years of lead or supervisory experience.  
  • Must be an excellent leader.  
  • Must be well-organized and capable of multitasking effectively 
  • Has a minimum of 2 years’ experience as an emergency veterinary technician  
Role Responsibilities:   
  • Schedule and conduct interviews and skill assessments for all potential technical staff new hires in the emergency department.  
  • Appropriately schedule emergency technical staff to maximize coverage and minimize overtime while addressing 24/7 caseload needs, including overseeing technical responsibilities for patients and approving requested time off.  
  • Share responsibility with the Specialty Technician Manager (and/or Inventory Manager) to ensure all Cubex machines are fully stocked and that necessary maintenance is completed.  
  • Provide medical, behavioral, and performance expectations to emergency technical staff.  
  • Oversee emergency technical staff performance with guidance from the Hospital Administrator to ensure quality control and consistency in task completion.  
  • Regularly review emergency technical staff to ensure they understand clear expectations and how their performance aligns with them.  
  • Communicate with the Hospital Administrator and/or Specialty Technician Manager (and/or Inventory Manager) regarding specialty equipment performance and maintenance to guarantee functionality.  
  • Collaborate closely with the Hospital Administrator and the entire administrative team to ensure consistent practices throughout the hospital.  
  • Act as the primary resource manager for emergency technical staff.  
  • As assigned by the Hospital Administrator, oversee training for emergency technical staff in relevant technical skills for their specific departments.  
  • Schedule regular meetings for emergency technical staff and ensure all action items from each meeting are completed before removing them from the to-do list.  
  • Inventory orders, inventory intake, invoice service codes, equipment procurement for emergency services, and equipment maintenance for specialty services.   
  • General facility oversight and knowledge, including handling or delegating first responses to urgent specialty department needs.
