We’re looking for a Workday Total Rewards & Talent Architect to serve as the in-house subject matter expert for Compensation, Benefits, Core HCM, Talent, and Performance, while also driving scalable production support triage standards across HR and Payroll operations.
This role is ideal for a strategic architect who can lead large-scale annual processing events, modernize foundational programs, and stabilize production operations in a fast-moving healthcare environment
What You’ll Do
  • Compensation Architecture
    • Compensation Architecture & Administration
      • Lead the configuration and administration of Workday Compensation, ensuring scalable, accurate, and compliant processes
      • Configure and maintain compensation programs in Workday, including base pay, merit increases, market adjustments, one-time payments, and incentive plans
      • Support the design and implementation of compensation structures, job architecture, and career frameworks
      • Partner with Compensation to implement and execute annual merit and base pay cycles, including guidelines, system configuration, testing, and deployment
    • Partner with Compensation to optimize compensation structures and processes surrounding:
      • base compensation
      • market adjustments
      • one-time payments
      • bonus and incentive frameworks
    • Serve as the Workday Compensation SME for enterprise initiatives such as job architecture revitalization, career framework redesign, and compensation harmonization, providing system design guidance, configuration support, ensuring scalable, compliant implementation
  • Benefits Architecture
  • Implement Workday Benefits strategy designed by the Benefits team, including plan design configuration, eligibility, enrollment events, and dependency rules
  • Partner with Benefits on enterprise Open Enrollment system implementation, while owning and executing the associated system components, including readiness planning, testing strategy, vendor coordination, communication dependencies, and production support
  • Configure and optimize:
  • new benefit plans
  • life event rules
  • evidence of insurability workflows
  • dependent verification processes
  • ACA and compliance support
  • Partner with Payroll and Benefits Operations on downstream deduction validation and issue resolution
  • Support annual vendor file changes, testing, and benefits compliance activities
  • Core HCM + Talent + Performance
  • Serve as the enterprise subject matter expert and functional owner for Core HCM foundations and Workday Talent modules, including Goals, Performance, Calibration, Career Management, and Succession.
  • Own the end-to-end design, optimization, and governance of talent-related business processes across:
  • employee lifecycle and job change events
  • supervisory organization and reporting structures
  • talent review and succession planning workflows
  • enterprise performance and goal-setting cycles
  • career management, including career pathing architecture
  • Lead the design of scalable, auditable performance and talent workflows that enable enterprise calibration and support downstream compensation, rewards, and leadership decision-making.
  • Partner with HR and business leadership to translate talent philosophy and strategy into effective system-enabled experiences, ensuring consistency, equity, and adoption across the organization.
  • Collaborate closely with Total Rewards and Talent partners to define requirements, optimize security and workflows, and deliver accurate, actionable reporting and talent insights that inform workforce planning and succession decisions.
  •  Tier 1 Production Support + Triage Operations
  • Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 triage leadership across HR and Payroll-related Workday support tickets
  • Serve as the escalation point for intake, prioritization, issue categorization, and routing standards
  • Triage inbound tickets across functional towers including:
  • HCM
  • Compensation
  • Benefits
  • Talent
  • Performance
  • Payroll Impacts
  • Time Tracking
  • Access Management
  • Drive root cause identification across configuration defects, security issues, process failures, integrations, and user support questions
  • Establish SLA-based support standards, intake workflows, ownership models, and escalation paths
  • Partner with HR Operations, Payroll, and COEs to ensure tickets are resolved with strong communication and minimal business disruption
  • Identify repeat ticket trends and convert production issues into roadmap enhancements, knowledge articles, or automation opportunities
  • Maintain documentation, triage playbooks, and support governance standards that scale across the HR technology ecosystem
 
What You Bring
  • 5 to 7 years of progressive Workday experience
  • Deep expertise in Compensation with large-scale merit and base pay cycle leadership
  • Strong experience with job architecture, leveling, and enterprise redesign initiatives
  • Proven Workday Benefits expertise including Open Enrollment leadership
  • Experience supporting Talent, Performance, and HCM business process design
  • Strong production support and ticket triage leadership experience
  • Ability to operate across strategic roadmap work and urgent production support
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional partnership skills
  • Strong analytical thinking with the ability to translate business needs into scalable system design
  • Preferred
    • Experience in healthcare, veterinary, retail, or other distributed workforce environments
    • Experience supporting acquisitions and policy harmonization
    • Experience with Workday reporting and downstream payroll impacts
    • Experience managing contractors or AMS resources
    • Workday certifications in Compensation, Benefits, HCM, or Talent
