You’ll play an important role in pets’ lives by providing end-to-end care for our precious patients. Your work will range from the hands-on care of facilitating outpatient treatments and performing laboratory, to support services including admitting and discharging patients.
Role Responsibilities:
- Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
- With each hospital function, assist veterinarians and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow.
- Communicate with clients about individualized pet health concerns
- Assist in maintaining relevant, comprehensive medical records with the support of practice systems.
- Obtain relevant health history and information from clients and maintain medical charts.
- Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and sustain clean, sterile, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
- Clean, sterilize and wrap surgical packs
- Maintain overall cleanliness in patient rooms and treatment
- Assisting in kennel duties ( taking patients outside for potty breaks, dishes, laundry)
- Handle lab samples, run in-house lab work
- Position for and take radiographs
- Have basic knowledge of vaccines and medications
- Utilize Vetspire (or comparable practice management software) to review patient records, identify due services, and ensure accurate and timely charge entry.
- Proactively assess patient needs during appointments and support workflow efficiency through accurate service capture and documentation.
- Perform technical nursing duties including subcutaneous (SQ) injections, ear cleanings, and routine outpatient treatments in accordance with hospital protocols.
- Support doctors with common procedures such as nail trims (NTs) and express anal glands (EAG), ensuring patient comfort and safety.
Additional Requirements:

- has excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ideally have at least 1 year of experience in a veterinary hospital
- is a team player
- knowledge of basic veterinary practices, procedures, and terminology
- ability to appropriately handle, lift, and restrain animals (dogs, cats, pocket pets, etc.) and stand for long periods of time.
- has basic organizational and computer skills.

Compensation is negotiable based on credentials and experience with an hourly pay rate starting at $18-23/ hour. The actual rate offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
